This week brought big changes for workers because of artificial intelligence. Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy warned employees that AI will shrink the company's workforce in coming years. He said AI will make work more efficient, meaning fewer people will be needed for some jobs. Jassy told workers to learn about AI through training and workshops to stay important at work.

In education, company Chegg cut 248 jobs because students now use free AI tools like ChatGPT instead of paid homework help. Chegg's boss Nathan Schultz said students increasingly choose AI over human tutors. This shows AI is replacing jobs beyond just tech companies.

Delivery company UPS plans 20,000 layoffs by June 2025 as it uses more machines and AI. A Salesforce leader said companies need "agentic capabilities" – meaning AI agents that work independently. While AI helps companies long-term, workers face job losses now during this shift.
