Customer Service Weekly AI News

July 7 - July 15, 2025

This week, AI voice agents became major players in customer service, especially in the U.S. food industry. Yum! Brands (KFC/Pizza Hut) now uses AI to take phone orders during busy times, while Jersey Mike’s deployed SoundHound’s voice AI in 50 stores for sandwich orders. Most customers don’t realize they’re talking to bots, showing how lifelike these systems have become.

However, AI errors remain common. A new study found 3 in 4 people experienced significant mistakes with AI—like wrong answers (42.1%), missing context (35.82%), or biased responses (31.5%). Despite these issues, businesses keep investing because AI cuts costs and handles routine tasks efficiently.

Marketing departments now prioritize AI 40% more than other teams to boost revenue, proving its business value. This growth signals a shift toward voice-first customer service, with experts calling it an "inflection point" for AI interactions.
